"He only gave her the tide pool of his life while the ocean held tumultuous treasures." - These powerful words say it all. The loneliness and longing are so palpable here.

Kate, this is a phenomenal first chapter. It belongs in a hardcover book prominently displayed with 100 other copies stacked in the windows of all the bookstores that no longer exist. All this to say, it’s something special. I look forward to the rest.

I dream of even soft cover in the window! :) But at the same time, my first go at serialized fiction is rather exhilarating. Good to join your ranks.

What a lovely comment. I'm so happy it's working for you! Thanks so much for the kind words and for sharing.

Intense beginning, Kate. Everyone already hates Georg. Having been to HK, I love how you weaved in the locations.

Oh, the husband. The voice you've used to describe his disinterest is perfection, Kate.

Thanks Troy! It's fun to try to figure out how to portray 'the bad buy'.

Wow. What an incredible start, Kate. There's a lot going on here, a lot of emotion and intensity and loss, blending in backstory with deftness.

I mean, I knew it was going to be brilliant, but 👌👌👏
